President Dr Muizzu departs for the UK to launch Maldives tourism promotion campaign with Liverpool FC

His Excellency President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has departed for Liverpool, United Kingdom, to participate in the commencement of a Maldives tourism promotion campaign in collaboration with Liverpool Football Club, as part of the co-branded initiative between Liverpool FC and Maldives Marketing & Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC)/Visit Maldives.
On March 13, MMPRC/Visit Maldives announced its partnership as the 'Official Tourist Destination Partner' for Liverpool FC. This collaboration launches a global campaign spanning three and half years, designed to amplify brand visibility and inspire more travellers to visit the Maldives.
Further strengthening this initiative, Visit Maldives launched an outdoor campaign in the UK on March 27 to attract visitors through the LFC partnership. This extensive marketing initiative will run for three months, utilising high-impact outdoor and digital advertising across key locations in the UK. The campaign includes over 100 fully branded taxis in London, along with advertisements on buses, the London Underground, major airports, and business class lounges.
During the visit, the President will meet with Maldivian students and visit the AXA Training Centre, where he will observe best practices in football training and coaching. The aim is to explore ways to incorporate high-performance training methods in the Maldives. Additionally, he will visit Leeds University and Leeds Town Hall, where he will meet the Councillor of the City of Leeds.
During the trip, relevant Ministers will meet with senior officials from Red Way and the LFC Academy to discuss joint marketing initiatives to promote tourism and strengthen the partnership between the Maldives and Liverpool FC.
The President is accompanied by His Excellency Thoriq Ibrahim, Minister of Tourism and Environment, His Excellency Abdulla Rafiu, Minister of Sports, Fitness, and Recreation, Ibrahim Shiuree, Managing Director of the Maldives Marketing & Public Relations Corporation, and other relevant senior Government officials.
President Dr Muizzu is expected to conclude his visit and return to Malé on Saturday, April 5, 2025.
