Opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) has resolved to hold a marathon calling to free former President Mohamed Nasheed، who has been convicted to 13 years in Prison on terrorism charges.
The event، “Free Raees Nasheed Run”، will be held at 16:00 on Thursday in capital Male’ City، said MDP، adding that it will be one-round around Male’ city.
“The participants can either run or walk during the event.”
MDP further informed the event will be participated by famous athletes of different clubs and fitness personnel as well.
Former President Mohamed Nasheed was sentenced to 13 years in prison for kidnapping the Criminal Court Chief Justice Abdulla ‘Gaazee’ Mohamed in 2012.
Although the case could have been appealed in High Court، the legal team of Nasheed had stated no fair trial will be granted within the courts، and a political solution is needed to resolve the matter.
