President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has extended his condolences to the families of victims of the Red Fort Metro station blast in Delhi, which killed 10 people and injured 24 others on Monday evening.
According to India Today, the explosion occurred in a car near Gate No. 1 of the metro station. The Delhi Fire Department received the first report at 18:55 local time, and several vehicles in the area were set ablaze, triggering panic during rush hour.
In a post on X, President Muizzu wrote:
“Deeply saddened by the tragic loss of lives in the blast in Red Fort, Delhi this evening. Our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and good wishes for swift recovery of the injured. The Maldives stands in solidarity with the people and Government of India in this difficult time.”

Indian media reports confirm that forensic teams are investigating the cause of the explosion. Authorities have sealed off the Red Fort area and issued security alerts in Delhi, Kolkata, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh.
No Maldivians were injured in the incident, and few reside near the Red Fort, which is primarily a tourist and heritage zone. India remains a popular destination for Maldivians seeking healthcare, holidays, and education.
The Red Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage site once home to Mughal emperors, draws thousands of visitors each year.
