President's Office launches The Pulse podcast series to address public concerns

The President’s Office has launched a new podcast series titled The Pulse, aimed at addressing issues of public interest and strengthening engagement with citizens on key social issues.
The first episode of the podcast was released this afternoon across the President's Office media platforms. The series is designed to provide insight into President Dr Mohamed Muizzu's vision on key national issues, with the Government's Chief Spokesperson, Mohamed Hussain Shareef, facilitating discussions and responding to questions raised by a participating journalist.
Coinciding with World Environment Day, the first episode focused on environmental issues. Each episode of The Pulse will be dedicated to a specific topic, highlighting public concerns, perspectives and questions related to that subject.
In the inaugural episode, President Dr Muizzu addressed concerns raised by members of the public regarding environmental challenges in the Maldives, including coastal erosion linked to changing weather patterns, persistent waste management issues, and the environmental impacts associated with land reclamation and development projects.
Addressing these issues, the President stated that although the Maldives remains one of the countries most vulnerable to the effects of climate change, the nation continues to demonstrate leadership on environmental matters. He emphasised that environmental protection remains a central pillar of the Government’s development agenda and highlighted the importance of balancing development with environmental sustainability.
The President also spoke about initiatives aimed at expanding green spaces across the country, including the Five Million Trees Programme. He encouraged all citizens to take an active role in the initiative and contribute towards creating a greener Maldives.
The second segment of the podcast featured an interview conducted by Vaguthu journalist, Yameen Mohamed. During the discussion, the President responded to questions on environmental issues and outlined measures being implemented by the Government to strengthen environmental protection and sustainability efforts.
Going forward, the second segment of The Pulse will provide a weekly opportunity for responsible, registered media organisations to engage directly with the President. Participating media outlets will be invited on a rotational basis to conduct a question-and-answer session focused on the episode’s selected topic, enabling journalists to seek clarification on policies, address public concerns and explore issues of national importance.
Introducing the podcast series, the Chief Spokesperson explained that The Pulse serves as a dedicated platform through which public concerns, ideas and questions on specific issues are gathered and presented to the President. The podcast enables the President to share his views, explain relevant Government policies and provide updates on progress in the respective sectors.
Through this initiative, the President's Office aims to enhance public awareness and understanding of national policies and priorities while promoting meaningful dialogue between the Government and the public.
