The Tourism Ministry has reported a significant increase in tourist arrivals to the Maldives in 2025, with the number of visitors rising by 9.4 percent compared to the same period last year.
According to the ministry’s latest statistics, 1,160,082 tourists had visited the Maldives by July 9, averaging 6,106 arrivals daily. This marks a substantial increase from 971,382 tourists who visited during the same period in 2024.
Of the total arrivals this year, the majority—72.6 percent or 841,999 tourists—chose to stay at resorts. Guesthouses accounted for the second-largest share with 259,811 visitors, followed by hotels with 31,928 tourists and safari vessels with 25,491 visitors.
China remains the leading source market, contributing 154,582 tourists, which represents 13.3 percent of total arrivals to date.
The ministry further highlighted that 1,230 tourism establishments are currently licensed across the Maldives, comprising 183 resorts, 872 guesthouses, 159 safari vessels, and 16 hotels. These establishments collectively offer a total capacity of 65,533 beds, of which 98.1 percent are operational.
The continued growth in tourist arrivals underscores the Maldives’ appeal as a premier international destination and reflects ongoing efforts to expand and diversify the country’s tourism infrastructure.
