The constitution has been torn apart by opposition MDP leader Mohamed Nasheed and JP leader Qasim Ibrahim، says Ibrahim Luthfee، former Human Rights Envoy at Maldives’ Permanent Mission to UN in Geneva.
Ibrahim ‘Sandhaan’ Luthfee posted a tweet following the controversial vote held today passing the first Amendment to the Constitution setting age limit for presidential candidates.
“President Nasheed and Qasim have torn apart the constitution disregarding the values of several thousand people who rose against injustice and cruelty.”
Luthfee stated on another tweet that ‘today is a sad day for freedom of speech and justice’.
“President Yameen، in alliance with the opposition has ‘raped’ the Constitution.”
