Ex-BML manager transferred to house arrest

Former manager of Bank of Maldives – F. Nilandhoo Branch, Qasim Abdul Kareem, who is being held for leaking confidential information of one of the bank’s customers, has been transferred to house arrest.
Qasim has two charges against him; knowingly obtaining information unlawfully, and knowingly revealing information unlawfully.
Qasim’s defense attorney, Ahmed Nazim Abdul Sattar informed “Sun” that his client had been transferred to house arrest from Friday onwards.
Qasim’s trial is being carried out behind closed doors with no press allowed inside, as per request of Prosecutor General’s Office.
Details of the case are therefore not available yet.
