The Maldives has been named the most popular spa destination in the Indian Ocean for the 10th time, by securing the title of Indian Ocean’s Best Spa Destination 2025 at the World Spa Awards.
The global gala event for the 2025 awards is yet to be announced, but specific regional winners have been celebrated, including in the Maldives, which won Indian Ocean's Best Spa Destination 2025.
The Visit Maldives Corporation said this is proof that the Maldives has established itself as a premier tourist destination and one of the world's most advanced wellness and spa hubs.
In addition to the regional honor, several resorts in the Maldives received awards in various categories. Joali Being won Indian Ocean’s Best Wellness Retreat 2025, while Waldorf Astoria Spa Maldives Ithaafushi was named Indian Ocean’s Best Resort Spa 2025.
Joali Being has held the title of Indian Ocean’s Best Wellness Retreat since 2022, while Waldorf Astoria Spa Maldives Ithaafushi, Indian Ocean’s Best Resort Spa 2025, also won the award last year.

The Maldives lost its position as Indian Ocean’s Best Spa Destination in 2023, when the award went to Seychelles. However, in every other year since the awards began in 2015, the Maldives has held the title. In addition, in 2016 and 2018, the Maldives won the global award for World’s Best Spa Destination.
