Former President Mohamed Nasheed being included in the discussions between the Government and opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) is not a matter opposed by the government، says Home Minister Umar Naseer.
Speaking to the media after holding discussions with MDP، Umar said although the Government is not opposing the idea، it had not come to a decision yet.
MDP has initially proposed former President Nasheed and MDP Chairperson Ali Waheed in their delegation. President Nasheed، service a 13 year jail sentence، has been changed to home detention، and Ali Waheed is currently abroad.
MDP PG leader MP Ibrahim Mohamed Solih said that the government is not against MDP including the delegates it had originally intended، however، did not mention if President Nasheed would join the discussions.
The discussion tonight was attended by Minister of Fisheries Dr. Mohamed Shainee and President’s Office Minister Abdulla Ameen.
