Nasheed، Ali Waheed included in MDP delegation for the political dialogue

Former President Mohamed Nasheed – sentenced to 13 years in prison on terrorism charges – and Chairperson Ali Waheed – detained following Mayday unrest – are both included in the opposition Maldivian Democratic Party delegation for the political dialogue with the incumbent government.
MDP passed the resolution in the party’s council meeting held at Salt Cafe’ & Restaurant this afternoon.
According to the resolution، in addition to Nasheed and Ali Waheed، the representative of the party for the political dialogue is MDP PG Leader Ibrahim Mohamed Solih (Iboo).
The resolution proposed by deputy chairperson Ali Niyaz، backed by north-Galolhu MP Eva Abdulla، was passed by the approval of 47 members of the council.
Proposing the resolution، Ali Niyaz stated that only Nasheed and Ali Waheed can seek a solution for the political dispute. “Therefore،” Niyaz said، “we do not believe a political discussion can be held without Nasheed and Ali Waheed.”
The Government’s delegation for the political dialogue with MDP consists of Home Minister Umar Naseer، Fisheries Minister Dr. Mohamed Shainee and Minister at President’s Office Ameen.
