National campaign kicked off to clean Maldives

A national campaign has been kicked off to clean Maldives in an attempt to curb the spread of drugs.
The campaign was started yesterday morning in Dharubaaruge grounds by Housing Minister Dr. Mohamed Muizz.
Speaking in the ceremony Dr. Muizz stated that the issue of mosquitos was widespread due to negligence and low standards of cleanliness.
Dr. Muizz stated that under the cleaning program conducted in alliance with MACI, they had already collected seven lorries of waste from empty plots of land and construction sites. Additionally, the Minister said that they were cleaning water tanks as well.
Many senior officials of the Government, foreign diplomats, senior members of companies and employees took part in the ceremony.
Under the programs tasks forces will conduct door to door awareness campaigns and cleaning of some houses.
