A tweet made by the Foreign Ministry has stated that the Foreign Minister Dunya has said the trial and the verdict of the Former President Nasheed depicts the strength of democracy in the Maldives.
Dunya has also acknowledged that no man is above the law.
President Nasheed has been sentenced to 13 years of jail due to proven terrorism charges for illegally detaining and isolating Criminal Court Judge Abdulla Gaazee in 2012.
Meanwhile، international authorities has been expressing concern and issuing statements over the verdict imposed on the Nasheed. The government of Maldives has called upon to respect the verdict issued on Nasheed.
