Foreign Minister reiterates support for an all-inclusive approach in the UPR reporting process

The Minister of Foreign Affairs Dunya Maumoon convened the national Standing Committee on the Universal Periodic Review in preparation for the upcoming Maldives’ review by the Human Rights Council in May this year.
At the meeting held yesterday, Minister thanked all stakeholders and civil society members for their contribution and support extended for the national report preparation process and expressed hope to continue the ongoing dialogue in an open and constructive manner.
The Foreign Minister further elaborated on the way forward in compiling the relevant information and discussed on the timeline of activities which is scheduled for the coming weeks in preparation for the report.
During the meeting, Attorney General Anil emphasized on the need to strengthen the content of the report by providing comprehensive information on both achievements and challenges faced by the Government.
The standing committee meeting was co-chaired by Foreign Minister and the Attorney General Mohamed Anil and attended by relevant Government Ministries, the Human Rights Commission of the Maldives, Transparency Maldives and Maldivian Democracy Network.
