Home Minister Umar Naseer has said that former President Mohamed Nasheed is detained in a special apartment in Asseyri Prison.
He made this remark following the rumours spread that Nasheed is kept in a small prison cell with four other inmates.
Umar said that the apartment has a TV hall, a dining room, a kitchen and a big sitting room. He said that the current government will not treat prisoners such as Nasheed dishonorably.
He said that former President Nasheed, former Defence Minister Colonel Nazim, Talhat and former MP Nazim are all kept in one big apartment in Asseyri prison.
Hassan Latheef from Nasheed’s legal team says that the four prisoners are kept in one room.
