Judicature Act was amended to ‘shed the blood’ of constitution- Hussein Mohamed

Mathiveri constituency MP, Hussein Mohamed has said that the Judicature Act was amended to ‘shed the blood’ of the constitution.
Speaking at yesterday’s session of the Peoples’ Majlis, MP Hussein Mohamed said that making loopholes in the constitution is against the spirit and purpose of the constitution.
“I would like to make a few comments. The removal of the judges is mentioned in the article 154. According to that article, A Judge shall not be removed from office during good behavior and compliance with judicial ethics. And a Judge may be removed from office only if the Judicial Service Commission finds that the person is grossly incompetent, or that the Judge is guilty of gross misconduct, and submits to the People’s Majlis a resolution supporting the removal of the Judge, which is passed by a two thirds majority of the members of the People’s Majlis present and voting,” he said.
“When we talk about democracy. When we talk about this and that of the law. Here is a committee member. A lawyer. These people are trying to weaken the spirit of the constitution. I am just amazed,” he said.
MP Hussein Mohamed said that changes can be brought within the law and requested all to uphold the law.
