Amna Thazkiya Mirsad has set a new national record in the women's longcourse 100m backstroke swimming event.
The 14-year-old talented swimmer set the record at the 22nd World Aquatics Championships currently taking place in Singapore.
Thazkiya set the national record in the 100m backstroke event of the World Aquatics Championships with a time of 01:13:49.
The national record for the event was last held by swimmer Hamna Ahmed. Hamna set the record at the 59th Milo/MAS Malaysia Invitational Age Group Swimming Championships in Malaysia last year.
Hamna set a record of 01:17.69 in the event. Thazkiya is one of the most advanced swimmers.
Meanwhile, Maldivian swimmer Miral Ain Latheef also renewed her national record in the women's long course 200m individual medley event.
