Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake will make his first official visit to the Maldives from July 28 to 30, 2025, at the invitation of Maldivian President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.
The President’s Office confirmed that the two leaders will hold official meetings during the visit, with discussions expected to focus on strengthening cooperation across various sectors between the Maldives and Sri Lanka.
This will be President Dissanayake’s first trip to the Maldives since taking office in September 2024, marking a significant step in bilateral engagement under his administration.
The visit also coincides with the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Maldives and Sri Lanka. Formal diplomatic ties were established on July 26, 1965, and have since remained a cornerstone of mutual cooperation in the South Asian region.
