Minister of Islamic Affairs, Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed, engaged in a productive and interactive discussion today with Mr. Mufaddal Idris Khumri, Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer of Maldives Islamic Bank.
The focus of the meeting centered on collaborative efforts relating to the development of zakat and Islamic charity funds, as well as exploring other cooperative initiatives.
During the session, the Islamic Ministry delivered a comprehensive presentation explaining the projected areas of cooperation between Maldives Islamic Bank and the Ministry of Islamic Affairs.
Expressing honor at the opportunity to meet the Minister of Islamic Affairs, Khumri emphasized the natural alignment of interests, noting that Maldives Islamic Bank is the sole Islamic bank in the country. He conveyed the bank’s commitment to working closely with the Ministry over the coming months to establish a roadmap for cooperation.
Khumri outlined specific areas of focus, including the development of the Zakat Fund, and collaboration in various domains such as scholarships, education, and the overall advancement of the Zakat Fund. Additionally, discussions encompassed the promotion of Islamic culture and civilization.
Khumri expressed eagerness for a fruitful collaboration, emphasizing their willingness to contribute significantly to the outlined areas of mutual interest.
