President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu emphasized the vital importance of national unity and working towards shared goals during the official ceremony marking the Maldives’ 60th Independence Day.
Addressing the nation, the President stated that a country cannot thrive if its people move in different directions with conflicting mindsets. “A nation can only exist as a nation when everyone moves forward together in national love with one direction,” he said.
President Muizzu underscored that protecting and preserving independence requires collective acceptance and effort from every citizen. He highlighted that national interest and progress can only be prioritized through individual responsibility and unity.
The President reaffirmed his core policy of prioritizing Maldivians in managing domestic affairs, while maintaining friendly international relations that benefit the Maldives. He stressed that although assistance from other nations can be sought, Maldivians themselves must lead and implement policies.
“A nation cannot exist if people go in different directions with different mindsets,” he reiterated, urging all citizens to work together with dedication to build an independent and prosperous Maldives.
