Former President Mohamed Nasheed’s office has called on the Police Integrity Commission (PIC) to conduct its investigations without being partial.
A press release by the office has expressed concern over not including the journalists testimonies and Nasheed’s testimony in the PIC’s investigation.
The statement has urged PIC to carry out its acts accordingly with the code of conduct and called for equity among all individuals.
The Police crimes backed by political intentions should be disclosed and stopped، said the statement.
In a statement sent by PIC to former President، explaining the result of the investigation، the commission indicated that based on video footage and evidence the PIC found that police had used necessary force required in summoning Mohamed Nasheed to court.
The statement further states that Mohamed Nasheed had refused to the consent of police officers who had continuously requested from him to enter the court on time.
While PIC says that police had acted within the regulations and law، Human Rights Commission of Maldives had condemned the brute force used by police officers against Nasheed while summoning him to court.
