Criminal Court tonight had stated the court will decide on penalizing the defence attorneys of the former President Mohamed Nasheed، for refraining from entering into the courtroom for the hearing.
The defence attorneys of Nasheed refrained from attending the hearing stating they were not given enough time to evaluate the documentary evidences against Nasheed.
The Presiding Judge stated if the purpose of refraining from attending the hearing was to obstruct the trial، necessary steps will be taken.
“We will decide on whether or not taking necessary actions،” the presiding judge said.
The legal team of Nasheed reportedly submitted the letter stating they will not attend the hearing، after the starting time of the tabled hearing passed.
The court reportedly waiting 45 minutes for the defence lawyers، before starting the hearing.
Ex-President Nasheed was summoned to the Criminal Court tonight for the hearing of his trial.
Nasheed is pressed with terrorism charges by the State، for the unlawful detaining and isolating of the Criminal Court Chief Judge Abdulla ‘Gaazee’ Mohamed in 2012.
