STO partners with Youth Ministry to initiate apprenticeship program

State Trading Organization (STO) signs a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Ministry of Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment to operate a new apprenticeship program.
The signing ceremony took place on Tuesday morning, 04 January 2022 while the event was officiated by the State Minister of Ministry of Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment Mr. Hussain Ismail, who was flanked by the ministry’s Deputy State Minister Mr. Mohamed Nasih.
On the other hand, Ms. Mariyam Nuzla the General Manager of People’s Operations Department of STO attended the MoU signing on behalf of the state-owned enterprise.
The partnership aims to initiate the apprenticeship for newcomers to professional fields through training and skills development programs run by experts and academics while the program will run on a national scale.
STO confirms that the apprenticeship program is open for 26 slots under six different professional fields. The program will run for a duration of six months while participants will complete 800 hours of training.
Upon successful completion of the program, participants will receive MNQF Level 3 accredited certificates.
In addition to this, the programs will run in line with the “National Competency Guidelines” developed by the Maldives National Skills Development Authority (MNSDA).
