President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu Meets Commonwealth Secretary-General in London to Strengthen Cooperation

His Excellency President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu met with Hon. Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, Secretary-General of the Commonwealth, during his official visit to the United Kingdom.
During the meeting, Secretary-General Botchwey reaffirmed the Commonwealth’s commitment to supporting the Maldives in key development areas. President Muizzu highlighted the Maldives’ leadership role among Small Island Developing States in advocating shared priorities on multilateral platforms.
The President outlined the national vision to achieve developed country status by 2040 and emphasized the importance of ongoing cooperation with the Commonwealth to realize this goal.
Discussions covered a broad spectrum of shared interests, including democracy and good governance, trade and investment, and the sustainable development of fisheries and tourism.
The meeting marked a significant step in strengthening the partnership between the Maldives and the Commonwealth.
