The President of Maldives Development Alliance (MDA) and Dh. Meedhoo MP, Ahmed Siyam Mohamed on Friday evening, has urged the citizens to make most out of the Islamic holy month of Ramadan, which the country will begin observing from Saturday, March 01st onward.
March 01st coincides with 1st of Ramadan of the Hijri calendar year of 1446; which the Ministry of Islamic Affairs confirmed on Friday evening.
Siyam in a statement issued after the Islamic Ministry's confirmation of Ramadan's commencement from Saturday onward, extended well wishes and greetings of the Islamic holy month to the citizens.
He further stressed Ramadan was a month of spiritual enhancement and strengthening one's connection with God as well as self improvement.
Siyam added that the people must reap the rewards of increased acts of worshipping including Salat (prayer), Sawm (fasting), and Sadaqah (charity).
Additionally, Siyam emphasized the deplorable state of the Palestinian people due to Israel's continued inhumane attacks, and urged to continue extending prayers to the calamity-stricken Muslim brothers and sisters. He also called for renewed efforts in bringing the matter to the attention of the international community as well.
