Discover Airlines’ has officially resumed flights from Frankfurt, Germany to Maldives’ main gateway, Velana International Airport (VIA).
The inaugural flight was celebrated with a special ceremony held at VIA, marking the official opening of Discover Airlines’ check-in counters at the airport’s new passenger terminal.
Discover Airlines will operate two weekly flights between Male’ and Frankfurt, providing greater connectivity for travelers between the Maldives and Europe. The airline will operate from VIA’s newly opened state-of-the-art terminal, which has been accommodating an increasing number of international carriers.
The resumption of these flights is expected to significantly boost tourism, as Germany—and Europe at large—remains a key market for the Maldives. The United Kingdom, in particular, ranks as the third-largest source of tourists for the island nation, with 181,300 visitors recorded so far this year.
With more airlines transitioning to VIA’s new terminal, the Maldives continues to strengthen its position as a top global travel destination.
