UK High Commissioner, Ambassador of Japan presents credentials to President Muizzu

High Commissioner of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to Maldives, Nicholas David Low and Ambassador of Japan to Maldives, Ishigami Rumiko presented their Letters of Credence to President Dr Mohamed Muizzu today.
The ceremony took place this morning at President's Office.
The envoys were escorted to the President’s Office from Republic Square in a cultural procession “Haiykolhu” accompanied by MNDF Drum and Trumpet Band.
Following the ceremony, President Muizzu and High Commissioner Low discussed strengthening bilateral relations and mutual interests, including cooperation in higher education, tourism, and climate change mitigation efforts.
Diplomatic relations between Maldives and the United Kingdom were established on 26th July 1965.

Following the presentation of Ambassador Ishigami's Letters of Credence, President Muizzu and Ambassador Ishigami discussed potential areas of collaboration, including disaster management assistance and renewable energy. Both reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral ties, and President Muizzu expressed gratitude for Japan's continued support in Maldives' development efforts.
Diplomatic relations between Maldives and Japan were established on 14th November 1967.
