Police have confirmed that the altercation inside a cafe' in Male' today was between two expatriates. They said that one of the men suffered serious injuries.
The altercation was reported to police at around 12:10pm today. It took place in Cafe' Thaseer 1 on Maaveyo Magu.
Police said that the altercation had been between a Nepalese chef working at the restaurant and a Bangladeshi staff member.
Both are currently receiving treatment, but the Bangladeshi is in a more serious condition according to the Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH), they said.
An IGMH Official said that the two men are receiving treatment in the hospital's Emergency Room. They declined from disclosing further information.
