MPL and China’s SENI group has signed an MOU, whereby the Group will provide heavy vehicles to improve services provided in the commercial port.
MPL CEO Mohamed Junaid and SENI heavy industries limited India branch CEO Deepak Gard signed the agreement on behalf of their respective companies.
Under the MOU MPL will be supplied by 22 heavy vehicles, including 10 cranes, two forklifts, four empty container handlers and six reach stackers within a period of three months.
SENI heavy industries limited, a Fortune 500 company, is a reputed brand in construction vehicles. The company supplies heavy vehicles to America, Indonesia, India, Brazil, Germany and 120 other nations.
Speaking to press after the signing ceremony, MPL CEO Mohamed Junaid this was a direct agreement with the company and as a result the company had saved around MVR 100 million. He said the machines will expedite the services provided and benefit their customers.
This move will benefit the customers with a faster service that is cost effective and of a higher quality. The move is also a strategic move in the company’s mandate and one that guarantees the safety of the employees at the port.
The company had also invested in five Toyota brand forklifts, increasing the number of forklifts used in the port to 15.
