Maumoon Reform Movement sets up party camp in Malé

The Maumoon Reform Movement (MRM), a break-away faction of the ruling Progressive Party of Maldives, has set up a party camp in capital city Malé.
Presidential candidate Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and his running mate Faisal Naseem opened the party camp on Sunday night.
The camp is called ‘Phone Jagaha’, in reference to the criminal sentence passed against former president Maumoon Abdul Gayoom for refusing access to his mobile phone.
The property is adorned with photographs of Maumoon and his parliamentarian son, MP Faris Maumoon, who is also facing multiple charges and has been dubbed a prisoner of conscience by Amnesty International.
The camp, that acts as an assembly site, was built at the Raddhebai Café premises, which was closed last year.
