Maldives adds 1,700 new tourism beds this year

The Maldives has added 1,700 new tourist beds so far this year, according to the latest figures released by the Ministry of Tourism.
At the start of 2025, the country had a total operational bed capacity of 63,248, comprising 42,547 beds in resorts, 15,621 in guesthouses, 2,028 in hotels, and 3,052 in safari vessels. The latest statistics show the total has now increased to 64,948 operational beds, including 43,247 in resorts, 15,970 in guesthouses, 2,484 in hotels, and 3,247 in safari lodges.
As of August 21, a total of 1,287 tourist establishments are open for visitors, including 174 resorts, 933 guesthouses, 164 safari vessels, and 16 hotels. The Maldives currently has a registered capacity of 66,990 beds, meaning several properties are yet to begin operations.
Tourist arrivals continue to show strong growth, with 1,763,319 visitors recorded so far this year, a 10 percent increase compared to the same period in 2024, according to the Tourism Ministry.
