Dhihdhoo MP Abdul Latheef Mohamed (Latheebey) has described the newly inaugurated Islamic Center in Haa Alifu Dhihdhoo as the greatest gift the island’s residents will receive during President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s administration.
Speaking to state media during the inauguration ceremony, Latheef said the facility represents a major religious and academic milestone not only for Dhihdhoo, but for the entire Haa Alifu Atoll and the country at large.
He noted that the opening of the center brings an end to a long and hopeful wait by the people of Dhihdhoo, who had been eagerly anticipating access to such a comprehensive Islamic facility.
Latheef emphasized that the center is more than a mosque, highlighting that it also serves as a hub for education and community development through its academic and Quranic programs.
The Dhihdhoo Islamic Center was inaugurated yesterday (November 28, 2025), followed today by the formal handover of its management to the Dhihdhoo Council. The Islamic Library and Quranic Center housed within the complex were also officially opened yesterday.
