Aasandha coverage expanded to Kings Hospital in Sri Lanka

The Maldivian government has arranged for an additional international hospital to provide Aasandha services.
According to Aasandha, services are now available at Kings Hospital in Colombo, Sri Lanka, which officially started treating patients under the scheme last month.
Aasandha services have been expanded to include an additional hospital in Sri Lanka while Lanka Hospitals, popular among Maldivians, recently suspended its Aasandha services due to a contract dispute. Aasandha said the expansion relieves concerns of Maldivians living in or visiting Sri Lanka who rely on Aasandha coverage for medical treatment.
The Maldivian government, under President Dr Mohamed Muizzu, is working to strengthen Aasandha services and address difficulties faced by patients seeking treatment abroad. Agreements with 63 hospitals abroad, including nine in Sri Lanka, have been signed to refer patients for treatment under the national health insurance scheme.
