The President’s Office has acknowledged the successes of 2019.
Speaking to press regarding the achievements of 2019, Spokesperson of President’s Office Ibrahim Hood said the ending year was a very successful year for the current administration. In this regard, Hood noted several major projects were commenced with positive results.
He further highlighted scholarships given to 5,000 students under its free first-degree education initiative, initiation of 118 projects in 91 islands, authorisation of 6 months of paid maternity leave and one month of paid paternity leave to civil servants and reduction in crime rates among others as major successes of the administration during 2019. Noting in 2019 the administration served in the aim of promoting good governance, Hood said they are satisfied with its performance.
Furthermore, the spokesperson of president’s office acknowledged the major successes of education and health sector.
Hood also shed light on the newly amended decentralisation act describing the ratification as an achievement.
He added next year’s state budget has allocated a huge amount for the development of health, education and infrastructure.
