Jumhooree Party leader Gasim Ibrahim has said that the current government wants to frame and destroy all political opponents.
“We have never participated or called against any unlawful matter. We will never do that. That is a blatant lie,” he said.
Gasim made this remark before his departure to Sri Lanka. He made this remark following the question of a journalist regarding the accusations against his Villa company in the charges against former Defence Minister Colonel Nazim.
Gasim said that the accusations against his company by the Prosecutor General is clearly to frame him and destroy him.
“The people of Maldives will not accept those lies against me,” he said.
The Jumhooree Party leader said that the statement of Police cannot be accepted in the case against Colonel Nazim. He said that this is acknowledged by all people.
“Colonel Nazim is not crazy to do such a thing. We do not believe that Nazim will make a pistol and write all the scripts of such a plan and save it on a pen drive,” he said.
Gasim said that he will be only able to respond to the accusations of the Prosecutor General only after receiving the details of those charges.
