Tourism arrival numbers see seven percent increase

The number of tourists visiting the Maldives has increased by seven percent.
According to the Tourism Ministry, a total of 358,999 tourists visited the Maldives as of February 18, 23,532 tourists or seven percent, more than the 335,467 tourists that visited during the same period last year.

United Kingdom - 34,817 tourists
Italy - 32,474 tourists
Germany - 21,466 tourists
India - 16,727 tourists
France - 14,414 tourists
United States - 11,067 tourists
Poland - 8,188 tourists
Switzerland - 7,225 tourists
There are currently 172 resorts, 796 guesthouses, 155 safari vessels and 15 hotels operating in the Maldives.
According to statistics, 69 percent of the tourists visiting the Maldives, accounting for 247,548 tourists, spent their holidays in resorts. Guesthouses accounted for 25.9 percent or 92,868 tourists. Meanwhile, 9,663 tourists stayed in hotels and 8,664 tourists stayed on safaris.
