15,000 land plots for Male’ residents from Rasmale’; 7,000 housing units in Male' area

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has announced his administration’s plan to open applications for 15,000 land plots from Rasmale’ to Male’ residents within the next five months.
He made the announcement during his remarks at the official reception held on Tuesday morning to commemorate this year’s Republic Day.
In his address, he highlighted efforts to increase usable land in Male’ area. In this regard, the President said announcements would be made regarding the allocation of 15,000 residential land plots from Rasmale’ within the next five months.
The President said additional dredgers will be brought in next month to expedite the Rasmale’ project by threefold.
“These locations are being reclaimed in this area to resolve the biggest crisis in Male’. To bring about a permanent solution for the longstanding issue of housing constraints faced by Male’ residents,” he remarked.

He added that applications for the reclaimed land plots will be announced soon with further details.
According to President Muizzu, the first 15,000 land plots issued from the area reclaimed under Rasmale’ project will prioritize Male’ natives, long-time Male’ residents and individuals registered on the Dhafthar. Additionally, owners of land plots in Malé that are either small in size or situated on very narrow roads can exchange them for alternative plots through a land swap.
Priority will also be allocated for be individuals aged 18 and above who do not own homes, with a particular focus on facilitating family housing pathways. 
During his remarks, the President also announced plans to develop 3,000 housing units in Male’ area, along units being developed through India’s line of credit. He added that details of these projects would be released shortly.
 
He noted that reclamation of Hulhumale’ Phase II and Giraavaru Falhu would commence very soon, with plans to also commence reclamation of Uthuru Thilafalhu before the end of the year.
