Former President Mohamed Nasheed، who is jailed for 13 years in prison due to proven terrorism charges for illegally detaining Abdulla Gazee in 2012، has been transferred to the special jail apartment built at Maafushi Prison.
President Nasheed was transferred to Maafushi prison on Monday night.
Until Monday’s night، President Nasheed was kept at Asseyri Prison in Himmafushi. He was moved to Asseyri Prison on Monday. Previously he stayed at Dhoonidhoo Prison.
Home Minister Umar Naseer has confirmed the news in a tweet he made tonight. Minister stated that President Nasheed will be staying at the Prison with some of his inmate friends.
Home Minister had earlier stated that the special detention apartment built for Nasheed will include a furnished sitting room and a room where amenities like AC، TV، and VCD Players will be provided.
Furthermore، he stated that a garden of 1087 sq. ft will be attached with the jail apartment of Nasheed.
