MDP to file two cases relating to Judge Abdulla Mohamed with the Chief Justice

In a press conference at the party’s office, Vice President of MDP and Feydhoo MP Alhan Fahmy said that a case is being filed against the High Court stay order after the Judicial Service Commission had found behavioral issues with Judge Abdulla. The High Court had issued the stay order against the constitution and hence the Supreme Court had the authority to intervene and investigate the matter, he added. Fahmy also said that when the police had summoned Judge Abdulla for an investigation, the High Court had issued a stay order against the police summon and that was the second issue being filed with the Chief Justice. “These two issues will be filed with the Chief Justice and I believe that it’s his obligation to personally investigate these matters”, Fahmy said. The lawyer acting in the two cases Ahmed Afeef said that there was a huge back log of cases filed with the Criminal Court and the Chief Justice needed to take immediate steps to resolve such issues within the court. MP Alhan Fahmy said that he had tried to meet the Chief Justice to file the cases this morning but was asked to come back in the afternoon, whilst lawyers such as Azima Shakoor and Shaaheen Hameed had been granted an audience with the Chief Justice late at night without a prior appointment.
