His Excellency Vice President Uz Hussain Mohamed Latheef departed for Berlin, Germany, this evening to participate in the Berlin Climate Mobility Forum 2026 as a keynote speaker. The Forum will be held from 18 to 19 June 2026 in Berlin, Germany.
This year’s forum is set to bring together Heads of State, high-level government officials, representatives from the most affected communities, and youth innovators developing local solutions. The aim of this high-level international forum is to address the complex challenges posed by climate-induced mobility and advance dialogue on adaptation strategies in response to the impacts of climate change.
Furthermore, this year’s forum will mark the formal adoption of the “Global Climate Mobility Principles”. This high-level agreement underscores the importance of supporting adaptation pathways that safeguard people’s “right to stay” in their communities while ensuring that relocation, when necessary, is carried out with dignity. In addition, the Forum will provide a platform to outline a roadmap for turning these shared commitments into practical partnerships and coordinated action.
During the visit, the Vice President is scheduled to deliver an opening statement at the High-Level Segment on the Climate Mobility Principles and participate in a High-Level Panel Discussion on protecting rights in the face of sea-level rise.
