Tax revenue at year-to-date total of MVR7.8bn, GST at 4.4bn so far

The cumulative total of tax revenues have reached MVR7,818.5 million (MVR7.8 billion) and the cumulative total of non-tax revenues hit MVR2,423.7 million (MVR2.4 billion) as of 05 August 2021.
Moreover, the strongest revenue stream for the state continues to be Goods and Services Tax (GST), with a combined total of MVR4,434.0 million (MVR4.4 billion) from both Tourism Goods and Services Tax (TGST) and General Goods and Services Tax (GGST).
Furthermore, the cumulative total of TGST reached MVR3,016.6 million (MVR3.01 billion) as of 05 August, in comparison with the MVR1,707.7 million (MVR1.7 billion) during the corresponding period of 2020, marking 55.4% increment in the current year.
On the other hand, the cumulative total of GGST stood at MVR1,417.5 million (MVR1.4 billion) in the review period in comparison with MVR1,197.7 million (MVR1.2 billion) in the same period last year, marking a 16.8% improvement.
Moreover, the combined GST income segment observed an overall 41.7% so far in 2021 in comparison with the same period last year.
Meanwhile, other major tax revenue categories include Import Duties which stood at MVR1,276.9 million and Business Profit Tax (BPT) at MVR567.2 million.
As for non-tax revenue streams, state earned a cumulative total of MVR1,040.2 million (MVR1.04 billion) from rent on resorts while the cumulative total of airport development fee stood at MVR217.3 million.
