National Youth Conference commences with 93 participants

The National Youth Conference has commenced with 93 participants from a range of sectors to promote dialogue on the country’s future and strengthen youth participation in national decision-making.
The opening ceremony was attended by Ibrahim Waheed, Minister of Youth Empowerment, Information and Arts, along with senior officials from the Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Information and Arts and members of the Presidential Youth Advisory Board.
Organised by the Presidential Youth Advisory Board in collaboration with the Youth Ministry, the conference reflects an initiative aimed at directly engaging young people in shaping national priorities and policy direction.
The two-day forum is being held at the Youth Hub in Malé. It is designed to identify key challenges facing young people, propose solutions, and contribute to the development of a comprehensive national youth policy. Officials described the conference as a platform for consultation, enabling the collection of advice and perspectives to advance youth interests at the national level.
The programme includes workshops covering six thematic areas, with discussions scheduled to conclude with a closing ceremony attended by President Dr Mohamed Muizzu.
Alongside the conference, officials highlighted parallel initiatives focused on youth development, including skills-building programmes and recreational activities. These efforts were underscored by the recent inauguration of Zuvaanunge Vehi, a centre providing counselling and welfare services for young people.
