Prosecutor’s Office hiring mental health counsellor

The Prosecutor General’s Office (PGO) is seeking to hire a Mental Health Counsellor to provide psychosocial support services to its employees.
The PGO signed an agreement with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in May last year to introduce mental health services for staff, a service that remains uncommon in most Maldivian workplaces.
In an announcement made Tuesday, the office opened applications for the counsellor position, offering a monthly salary of MVR 16,205.
According to the PGO, the counsellor will be responsible for providing psychosocial support and counselling to employees, and for seeking supervisory guidance in cases requiring intervention or referral. The role also includes planning and conducting sessions and workshops on stress management, mental health and psychosocial wellbeing.
The office said establishing a structured mental health support system is a key target of its five‑year Strategic Action Plan. Prioritising staff wellbeing, it said, is aimed at fostering a culture of care within the criminal justice system, improving staff performance and strengthening the quality of services provided.
The PGO added that enhancing employees’ resilience and ability to cope with the pressures of legal work is essential to improving their overall thinking capacity, strength and professional output.
