Passengers have been reported missing after a speedboat travelling from H. Dh. Nolhivaramfaru to H. Dh. Hanimaadhoo capsized this Thursday.
Sun has been informed the speedboat was carrying 10 passengers, and departed to Hanimaadhoo at approximately 11:10 am.
Seven of the passengers have been rescued, while two women and a child remain missing.
The seven passengers rescued also include two women and a child. Two of the rescued passengers are reported to be in critical condition.
Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) confirms the boat was carrying 10 passengers, and reports that it capsized off the coast of Hanimaadhoo.
The seven passengers who were rescued were taken to the Hanimaadhoo on a MNDF Norther Area dinghy boat, and are currently being treated at the Hanimaadhoo health center.
MNDF officers continue to search for the two women and child who remain missing.
Maldives Police Service confirms a marine accident, but declined to disclose any details at this point.
