MET eases fears of more sea swells
After unusually strong swells had hit the capital Male last week, Meteorology department had warned of more swells. However, under the present conditions, swells are looking increasingly unlikely, MET office said. August 14, 2015:- The damage caused to the islands of Addu by strong winds and heavy rain. PHOTO/THOYYIB The swells that hit Male just before midnight on Friday, had cleared the sea wall by over one and a half feet, eyewitnesses had said. Onlookers had described the swells as "mini tsunamis." MET office further said the bad weather is set to continue for the next twenty four hours. Strong wreaked havoc in the southern most Atoll Addu and also in Fuvahmulah as roofs were blown away and trees uprooted.
