A religious scholar has said that bringing non-Muslims to celebrate Eid after paying them, is against the spirit of Eid celebration and also a huge waste.
He said that since music is something that is disputed among scholars, he does not want to say something strict about it, but that there are somethings that need to be taken into consideration.
“Most of the people who attend music shows are those who are not careful with their Salat. Eid celebrations should not be targeted to these people, but those who say Takbeer and remembers Allah. So this is something that we need to think about” said the scholar.
When asked whether non-Muslims were asked to join ‘Eid celebration after paying them during the time of Prophet Mohammed (PBUH), the scholar said that nothing of that sort ever happened during the life of prophet. He also said that this is now how Eid should be celebrated.
He further said that, Muslims should maintain relation with people of other religion as well and if a non-muslims wishes to join Eid celebrations, it is perfectly fine to do. However, that person must celebrate within the boundaries set in the religion.
If we look at this Eid, best Eid activities were organized by Sadaqaath Foundation, Islamic Ministry and Ihavandhoo. Sadaqaath foundation organized fund raising activities to fund for their charitable work.
The people of Ihavandhoo invited people from Minicoy (Maliku) to celebrate Eid with them and treated as how fellow Muslims brothers and sisters should be treated. People of Minicoy are Muslims and they have Islamic culture. Hence it is important to develop relations with them.
As for Islamic Ministry, they distributed gifts to the sick and children. This is an important thing to do during Eid. It is important to do this in the next Eid, taking Islamic Ministry as an example.
