MPs Mubeen and Rasheed sign onto Jumhooree Party

Member of Parliament for Bilehdhoo Constituency, Ahmed Mubeen and Member for Isdhoo constituency Ahmed Rasheed Ibrahim have signed onto opposition Jumhooree Party on Thursday.
The two lawmakers had signed onto JP at a special ceremony held at the party headquarters on Thursday evening. Their membership forms were accepted by leader and founder Qasim Ibrahim, and MP himself, who was recently elected as parliament speaker.
Speaking to press at the signing ceremony, Qasim stated that he hopes everyone who left the party at different points will return to the party, highlighting that this is a huge achievement for the party.
He further said that all those who wish to work in politics through Jumhooree Party will be paved way and that the party welcomes all.
Members Mubeen and Rasheed were elected to the Parliament through a JP ticket in 2014. However, they had left the party to join the ruling Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) not long after.
With the outgoing President Abdulla Yameen’s loss in the September polls, his close associates are seen leaving his PPM and joining Jumhooree Party.
