Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM), on December 6, handed over the party electoral tickets to 20 of its members without a primary.
The party tickets were awarded during the ceremony held at PPM's main office.
Candidates with PPM ticket and their constituencies;
- Ghassan Maumoon, son of former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom/ Guraidhoo, Thaa Atoll
- Azima Shukoor, former Minister of Legal Affairs at the President's Office/ Holhudhoo, Noonu Atoll
- Mohamed Shainee, former Minister of Fisheries and Agriculture/ Henveiru North, Male'
- Abdulla Nazim, former Minister of Health / Hinnavaru, Lhaviyani Atoll-
- Mohamed Nasheed, Leader of Dhivehi Rayyithunge Party (DRP) / Kaashidoo, Kaafu Atoll
- Ahmed Shafeeg, former State Minister at the Ministry of Home Affairs during Maldive Democratic Party's rule / Bilehdhoo, Faafu Atoll
- Zahid Rameez / Hithadhoo Central, Addu Atoll
- Ahmed Zuhoor, former CEO of State Trading Organization / Thinadhoo North, Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll
- Mohamed Latheef / Hithadhoo South, Addu Atoll

During the falling out with Maumoon and half-brother former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom, Ghassan chose to remain by the latter's side.
Previously, the party awarded 24 tickets to the sitting parliamentarians from PPM. However, two of their MPs, Moosa Manik and Mohamed Nasheed, did not receive the party ticket.
The former ministers, Dr. Mohamed Muizzu and Adam Shareef both expressed their desire to run for the parliamentary elections slated for March 2019. The two interested candidates have yet to be allocated a party ticket.
