Organizers of the upcoming National Film Awards have revealed the judges' panel as well as the date to announce movie nominations.
According to National Centre for the Arts (NCA)’s Coordinator Abdulla Muaaz (Muaa), the judges' panel will comprise of: President of the Dhivehi Language Academy, Ashraf Ali; Ahmed Zareer; Mohamed Shareef (Baaru Shareef); Cinematographer at Television Maldives, Hussain Imthiyaz (Inthi); and Ali Manik (Dhaari).
He added that the ceremony to unveil nominated movies will take place at the Voice of Maldives’ Senaco Hall on December 16.
A total of 17 entries were submitted for the 7th National Film Awards, which is scheduled to be held on the night December 21. The entries consisted of 11 feature films and 6 short flicks.
Only movies that were released between the year 2011 and 2013 are eligible for this year’s awards.
The National Film Awards is an event held to celebrate and promote the Maldivian film industry, its products as well as the people contributing to the industry.
The award ceremony is to be managed by its media partner Public Service Media (PSM).
