German to be taught as optional language in Maldivian schools

Minister of Education Dr. Aishath Shiham says that German can be taught in schools as an optional language.
Minister said this in a meeting held with the Maldivian Ambassador to Germany, Jamila Ali Khalid.
Dr. Shiham said that German is a language that can be taught in schools as an optional language, which would be very beneficial for students pursuing careers in the tourism field.
She said that many other languages are already being taught as optional languages, including Arabic and Chinese.
She also said that proficient teachers from Germany can be hired to teach German in schools.
Germany is one of the most industrially developed countries and one of the best at conducting Tvet Programs, minister outlined.
Minister, Dr. Aishath Shiham further said that while the ministry currently runs different Tvet programs in collaboration with some institutions, she hopes they will receive German government’s assistance for these programs.
