Maldivian High Commission in Sri Lanka has stated that a Maldivian has died in Sri Lanka while out at sea.
It has been confirmed to Vnews that the deceased is a 28 year old male on holiday in Sri Lanka. However, on request of the deceased's family, the High Commission had declined to reveal additional details to media.
It has also been confirmed he died at the time when Sri Lankan authorities had issued warnings not to go out to sea, due to adverse weather conditions, in Ambalangoda area. He had died while getting treatment for a head injury caused when he crashed into a rock when a wave crashed.
However, this news had not been confirmed by any authorities.
